Dear Family
Ashford Montessori is located in the centre of Ashford Village, Co. Wicklow beside the community centre and is a 2-minute walk from the local national school. We offer 24 places and partake in the free ECCE and CCSP schemes, as well as taking in private pupils. We are a blended Montessori and preschool, so have a wide variety of Montessori play equipment and activities. We also have an outdoor area for play and physical activities. We cater for children aged 2 years 6 months - 5 years 6 months.
Approach and Philosophy
Incorporating the Montessori teaching method, we create a fun and safe learning and playing environment here at Ashford Montessori School.
Facilities and Amenities
We have an outdoor play area and parking. The curriculum integrates the emerging interests of the children, which are in line with the Aistear Framework and Siolta guidelines. We have monthly themes which help improve children's physical, emotional, intellectual, linguistic and social skills. We work at each child's personal pace to ensure all children are given the opportunity to develop to their full potential. Our areas of learning include practical life, sensorial, maths, reading, writing, culture, science and nature, social play, construction, PE, music and dance, cookery etc.
Staff and Qualifications
Qualified Montessori Teacher with over 30 years' experience. A staff member with a BA in Early Childhood Care and Education. A third staff member with Level 6 In Early Childhood Care and Education with special needs module and currently studying the LINC course.
Safety and Security Measures
Our teachers are attentive and experienced, and will centre themselves around your child's safety and comfort at all times. We are proud to say we have an adult/child ratio of 1:11 max. We are TUSLA registered, and fully insured.
Nutrition and Meal Plans
Children will need to bring a nutritious packed lunch and lots of water with them for their break times.
Parent Communication and Updates
We work in partnership with parents to create a warm, supportive and educational environment for the children.
Inclusion and Diversity
It is important that we have a staff member who has studied a Special Needs module as part of their Early Childhood Care and Education course, as we believe all children should be cared for and taught in the ways that suit them best.
