Dear Family

All of our camps have a theme. We specialise in player development and we find that bringing a structured programme to the camp is a great way to fast-forward the learning of the players. A week at camp is sometimes equivalent to half a season's worth of training. Our camps are 15-20 hours, depending on the week. That’s a lot of time to master any skills. Mon 25th - Thu 28th March 2024 10am - 1 pm Colaiste Craobh Abhann. €105 Book via: https://buy.stripe.com/fZe9BqaTR4pGa8o5lq Gillian specialises in programme planning and you can guarantee the camp will be full of structured, developmental learning. We recommend that players are focused and keen to improve. We cater for players at various levels but if there is no interest in development, we recommend you try a camp which may follow a different structure. Camp begins daily at 10 am and finishes at 1 pm. There will be an opportunity to play at the end of the day, but each session will have a specific focus and goal to work towards. Your child will be immersed in "a basketball community as good as a club". They will be coached in a fun, attentive, and safe environment at Colaiste Craobh Abhann. Coming from all backgrounds and walks of life themselves, our coaches are passionate about encouraging every child to perform and feel their best, both on the basketball court and in their interpersonal experiences, whatever their differences. Children of minority groups will be given any extra attention and care they might require. Your child should bring a nutritious packed lunch with them, and of course lots of water, so they can keep their energy levels high at all times and feel their best. Your children's safety is our number one priority. There will be a sanitisation station on site. Any child feeling unwell will be separated from other participants and monitored until their parent(s)/caregiver can pick them up from camp. Please don’t attend camp if you are feeling unwell. We're proud to say our staff consists of international sports competitors with a passion for sharing the joy of sport with those around them. Our coaches have years of experience developing thousands of players in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA. Our Head Coach is Gillian Clarges. Here is a snapshot of the HoopSkool story to date. Gillian founded HoopSkool in 2010. She has been coaching camps since she was 15 years old and was trained under Dr Mike Hollis of Networks Basketball. She was Head Coach at St. Andrew's College, Dublin for seven years and lead her teams and programme there to great success, with All Ireland medals and promotions to higher divisions during her tenure. Gillian worked as a Tutor in Health-Related Fitness for 12 years in Youthreach (a government initiative for early school leavers), where she learned to have empathy and patience for all types of people. Her background is in Sports Science and she owned and ran her own Sports Therapy Clinic for eight years before HoopSkool developed. Gillian is the proud mum of one year-old Sophie and absolutely adores working with children from all walks of life and backgrounds. You will find her in the gym at most sessions encouraging, motivating and energising children. Gillian particularly enjoys working with coaches on their own journey. In the past five years she has trained up and mentored numerous coaches who you will get to meet at Camp.
